Great Tit - Lakenheath Fen
Perched quietly on a fallen branch at Lakenheath Fen, this great tit shows off its striking colours and bold markings. The bright yellow breast and olive back contrast beautifully with the glossy black head and crisp white cheeks, making it one of the most distinctive garden and woodland birds in the UK.
Often confused with the blue tit, the difference becomes clear when seen side by side. The great tit has the darker black head and a stronger, more defined appearance, while the blue tit carries its softer blue cap and more delicate colouring.
