Just seconds before the drop, this marsh harrier glides low across the wetlands at Walmsley Sanctuary, wings fully spread as it prepares to strike. The quiet precision of the moment captures the focus and control that make these birds such skilled hunters.
This particular harrier is a familiar sight at the reserve. Despite having an issue with one leg, it continues to hunt successfully, a reminder of the resilience often seen in wild birds. Watching it sweep across the marsh, searching the ground below, is always a striking experience.
