A split-second reaction after a bold theft. The young kingfisher had just snatched a fish from its mother and dropped beneath the perch, wings still beating as it tried to make a quick escape.
The adult wasted no time responding. Leaning down from the branch, it snapped sharply towards the youngster in a clear warning — a brief but unmistakable message that stealing from the provider has its limits.
Moments like this reveal the tension behind feeding time. While young birds rely entirely on their parents, they also test boundaries, and occasionally receive a firm reminder of the rules.
